ADHD Assessment for Adults

An ADHD assessment can help clarify symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity. It supports accurate diagnosis of ADHD when needed and helps distinguish between the inattentive and impulsive types as well as to differentiate ADHD symptoms from those associated with other cognitive or emotional disturbances. Importantly, careful psychological assessment informs remedial coping strategies for home, education, or work settings. It guides treatment planning and goal setting, helping to re-build confidence.

Clinical Interview

You will be asked a set of questions based on the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-5-Clinician Version (SCID-5-CV). These questions will give you the opportunity to tell us about your symptoms in a way that we can readily analyse.

Psychometric Assessment

After your diagnostic interview, you will be given access to online questionnaires to complete and return to us by email. You will also need to ask someone who knows you well (e.g. a sibling, parent, partner or close friend) to complete some online questionnaires.

We will also require details of your developmental, educational, academic, and occupational history.

Feedback Session

Having analysed the data, we will hold a 1-hour feedback session with you to discuss your strengths and weaknesses, the diagnosis, and its implications.

A comprehensive report is provided, including the results of the assessment, conclusions, and recommendations. The report will include a list of personalised strategies for managing your symptoms going forward. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions about the report and the recommended treatment options. Finally, we will discuss any need for further treatment from other health professionals (e.g. psychiatrist, GP or other allied health specialist) and make referrals accordingly.
