Attachment Style

Attachment styles develop out of early relationships with caregivers, usually parents and continue into adulthood. Broadly, these fall into three types: Secure (relationships are approached with confidence), anxious (relationships are associated with conscious or unconscious anxieties that undermine the emotional bond within the primary relationship or lead to dissatisfying relationship patterns) or disorganised, leading to a deep-felt sense of alienation or distrust, making possible only the most superficial of relationships.

Our assessments of attachment style are conducted with evidence-based psychometric tests administered following the 90-min clinical interview. Once we have analysed the data, we will schedule a 1-hour feedback session at which we will also provide a detailed report with recommendations. Where indicated, these recommendations will include a tailored treatment plan designed to achieve lasting change.
